Around Town-CMAS Adventure Day Camp

Childrens Museum of Art and Science Adventure Day Camp
CMAS Adventure Day Camp is a great way to keep your kids busy every 4th Sunday May 21st, June 25th, July 23rd, and Aug 27th at Clear Lake Campgrounds; set among the beautiful Cache Creek across from Anderson Marsh, kids will explore and gain hands-on life-skills experiences. Activities range from nature/environmental education to proper survival skills, such as plant identification and animal tracking. Kids will gain confidence and comfort in being outdoors while having a fantastic time participating in all the outdoor activities.

Students of all ages will gain hands-on experiences using different life scenarios that they will encounter during their adventure. Teams will go on scavenger hunts using a compass to explore nature and collect specimens to examine with microscopes. They'll gain hands-on opportunities to dissect owl pellets and chart their findings to decipher their discoveries. Teams will learn about different species of fish and fishing techniques while they try to catch the big one.

We thank Clear Lake Campgrounds for sponsoring CMAS this summer, allowing the community to have fun while gaining Art, Science, and Music skills. Set your kid's imagination and adventurous spirits free as they learn about the natural environment to express themselves through art, Science, and Music.

On-site registration starts at 11:30 at 7805 Cache Creek Way, Clearlake, California, till 5 pm Sharp.

Parking will be at the top of the hill upon entrance. Please walk your children down for check-in and drop-off, and the fun begins! When you pick up children please make sure you sign out so we know your child left.

Thanks to Anderson Marsh, AMIA, for letting us borrow their special binoculars so students will have the opportunity to watch for birds and learn how to identify them by sight and sound using the Audubon and Merlin app. Each team will have different scenarios to accomplish team building and completion of the courses.

Students will participate in the Mess Hall camp cooking activity. Meal will include, Hot Dogs, Chicken tenders, fruit, drinks, and smores. Each child will be able to prepare their own meal under supervision.

The camp will conclude with Camp Fame music activity with a drumming circle. Teams will compete to keep the beat.

**** This is a free event offered by the Children's Museum of Art and Science; we would like to recruit 30 students to participate in this adventure.

Community Service Opportunities

This event is an exciting way for students to receive community service hours; and for community members to give back to the children of Lake County.

CMAS welcomes parent participation by volunteering. CMAS is also recruiting official volunteers by doing individual background checks to join us in planning more free family fun for our community.
